Topical sucrose has been shown to be as effective as metronidazole (an antibiotic) in curing bacterial vaginosis. Topical sucrose has also been shown in clinical trials to help with yeast infections. It’s a common misconception that topical sucrose feeds yeast infections when, in fact, it is only ingested sucrose that contributes to yeast. The reason is that topical sucrose feeds the right type of bacteria for the optimal vaginal environment.
